Still alive

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Yeah, I’m still alive, just been busy with IRL stuff. Haven’t had much of a chance recently to post anything, not that much is going on that’s really all that interesting anyways…

I recently finished Eve no Jikan and Elfen Lied, so I’ll probably post an article or two about those and maybe some other random stuff that I’ve seen in the news lately.

Meiousei running Windows 7

Meiousei - Windows 7

I finally got around to upgrading my laptop from Vista to Windows 7. So far I like it and a lot of the quirks that were in Vista doesn’t seem to be apparent in 7. It took me a long time to finally convince myself to upgrade to Windows 7 because I wasn’t sure if Windows 7 came with the drivers that were needed for my laptop, and Sony hasn’t put out any Windows 7 drivers. Which doesn’t necessarily mean that the XP/Vista drivers won’t work… I just don’t like taking a wild guess and possible be wrong.

Lack of Updates

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Sorry about the lack of updates recently. Both family and school have taken up a very large amount of the free time that I used to have. I’ll write up a post later on explaining some of it, but I’ll just do a quicky post right now as just a little bit of an update.

  1. I’ve kind of stopped watching anime for now, see list item #. Doesn’t mean I won’t watch any more, I just need to find time to.
  2. My grandmother passed away about a month ago now, so I was mentally crazy for a bit and had to catch up on school work that I missed when I was in South Carolina.
  3. I’ve been playing more games recently to keep my mind occupied with random nonsensical things. L4D+TF2+Eufloria = win, L4D2 looks great when I have money to buy it.
  4. My desktop is partly disassembled and I’m trying on getting Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 installed on it, but the BIOS doesn’t seem to want to recognize the DVD Drive when it boots or the DVD Drive doesn’t like the DVD, even though it works fine on my laptop.
  5. Classes have me swamped with work between normal homework, projects, essays, etc. 6 classes on Monday and Wednesday is a killer.
  6. etc. etc. etc.

Blah, harddrive sorting

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Danger Will Robinson!
I finally got another message in uTorrent saying that my new/incoming anime drive is reaching MAXIMUM CAPACITY! The drive that I’ve highlighted is the one in question, I went and deleted a couple of DVD ISO files that had been downloaded that I didn’t need, which freed up a little bit of space. But it seems that I have to go take a couple hours of my life and sort through everything to free up some space. Speaking of which… I still need to sort all of the anime music that I’ve been collecting over the years too… sigh…

Maybe I could just get another 1TB hard drive and that would solve all of my problems! But then where am I gonna get the $100 to buy it… :< Darn it!

Saw Ponyo (on the Cliff by the Sea)

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Kitsu and I went to see Ponyo (on a Cliff by the Sea) today and I’m pleased to say that I fully enjoyed it. It’s very much a remake of the classic Little Mermaid story, but it’s beautifully done, as expected by Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli. It’s very easy to tell that it’s cel drawn, with some minor CG effects, which is what makes the movie that much better. Cel animation seems to be nearly a lost art now-a-days with so many companies using CG for everything; I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing, just that it’s a major change and I still enjoy the old school style.
